In the Jets’ fourth game of the 2020 season, on a beautiful clear cool night at MetLife Stadium, the New York Jets lost to the Denver Broncos, 37 - 28.
This was a wild, sloppy game. The Jets opened with a drive culminating in a 46 yard scramble for a touchdown by Sam Darnold. They closed by giving up a 43 touchdown run to Melvin Gordon. In between were wild swings of momentum, endless penalties, breakdowns in coverage, turnovers and big plays.
In the end, the Jets defense couldn’t stop an undrafted rookie quarterback in his first NFL start, largely because the Jets depleted secondary was beyond awful in coverage.
The final nail in the coffin was a broken play touchdown run by Gordon, but this loss was mostly on the ineffective secondary, and partly on the offense’s inability to punch it into the end zone.
With the loss the Jets bring their record to 0 - 4 on the year. It was another disappointing chapter in a disappointing year, as a Broncos team devastated by injuries nonetheless racked up 37 points on the Jets defense.
I will provide a more in depth recap of today’s game later. In the meantime leave your comments on the game below.
