The Jets have voted on six captains for the 2019 season. The team announced their names on Wednesday.
Our captains for the 2019 season:
— New York Jets (@nyjets) September 4, 2019
QB Sam Darnold
LT Kelvin Beachum
S Jamal Adams
LB C.J. Mosley
DL Steve McLendon
S Rontez Miles https://t.co/Tf4Vpr5O3m
Darnold and Beachum represent the offense. Adams, Mosley, and McLendon are on the defense. Miles, who is one of the longest-tenured members of the team is the captain for special teams.
This group is a mix. There are veterans over 30 like McLendon and Miles and players at the start of their careers like Adams and Darnold. There are imports like Mosley and homegrown players.
Adams and Darnold are the two who stick out to me, though. It is an honor for them to earn so much respect from their teammates so early into their careers. In many ways these are the young cornerstones the Jets are building upon. One is on offense. One is on defense. These are the players the team is hoping will lead them into an era of glory.
