Monday Night Football, Week 4. In tonight’s game the Cincinnati Bengals head east to take on AFC North division rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is a showdown between two AFC North teams that have fallen on hard times.
The Steelers have opened the season 0-3. Star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered an elbow injury and is lost for the year, with backup Mason Rudolph thrust into the starting role. The Steelers also lost the services of star running back Le’Veon Bell and star receiver Antonio Brown in the offseason. This makes for a devastating loss of three future Hall of Fame talents in the last few months, a blow few teams could successfully recover from. So far the Steelers have not been able to cope successfully.
The Bengals have also started the season 0-3, though this was more expected. The Bengals are a bad football team in need of a multi-year rebuild. They will likely be contending for a top 2020 draft pick this season.
The clash of two 0-3 football teams can’t be what Monday Night Football envisioned when they were putting together the 2019 schedule, but it’s what they’ve got.
It’s the Bengals and the Steelers in an AFC clash of bottom dwellers. Enjoy the game everybody.
