The Jets made a minor move on Wednesday signing quarterback Mike White to their practice squad.

White was a fifth round pick of Dallas in 2018. That means all three Jets quarterbacks either on the active roster or the practice squad were 2018 draftees. White was waived by the Cowboys this year at the end of the preseason. He played in college at South Florida and Western Kentucky.
The release of quarterback David Fales a few days ago left the Jets with Sam Darnold and Luke Falk at the position. This led some to speculate a Darnold return for Week 5 was more likely. Whether White has anything to do with Darnold’s status we cannot say. He can be signed to the active roster prior to the Philadelphia game if the Jets need him. Is he insurance in case Darnold can’t go? Did the Jets just need an arm who could run the scout team? Is it a little of both? We will find out soon enough.
