On a beautiful warm and sunny early autumn afternoon in New England, in the Jets’ third game of the 2019 season, the New York Jets lost to the New England Patriots, 30 - 14.

On a day in which the Jets were missing many of their best players, the Patriots’ obvious talent advantage proved too much to overcome. Third string quarterback Luke Falk started for the Jets and was predictably overwhelmed by the Patriots defense. The Jets offense was shut out and have now scored a pathetic 11 points in three games

The Jets defense was embarrassed early on, allowing Patriots receivers to roam free in the secondary with only token resistance, leading to three Patriots touchdowns on their first three possessions. The Jets defense stabilized from there, keeping the score respectable, but it was too little, too late. Only scores on defense, against the Patriots backup quarterback, and special teams, prevented a complete blowout loss.

With the loss the Jets record drops to 0-3 as the season is quickly slipping away from the team. Sam Darnold’s return, once his health returns, can’t happen soon enough. If the season is indeed lost at least we might enjoy watching the young hope for the future at quarterback develop.

John will be around for a more in depth recap of today’s game a bit later this evening. In the meantime leave your comments on the game below.
