The New York Jets have placed offensive lineman Brent Qvale on the injured reserve list. The Jets replaced Qvale on the 53 man roster by re-signing 33 year old linebacker Albert McClellan, who was cut by the Jets yesterday.
McClellan has been mostly a special teams player in recent years and has excelled in that role. His days of providing quality depth as a linebacker are nearing an end at age 33, but special teams standouts are quite valuable in their own right.
Qvale’s injury may not be season ending and he is eligible to return from the injured reserve list later in the season.
