With the injury to Trevor Siemian, the Jets had one quarterback on their roster available to play in Sunday’s game. The team obviously needed to sign somebody to back up Luke Falk. They did on Wednesday. David Fales has joined the team. With Siemian going to injured reserve, Fales takes his spot on the roster.
We have signed QB David Fales and placed QB Trevor Siemian on IR.

The quarterback signing was presumably going to be somebody with experience in this offensive system. If anything happens to Falk before or during the game, the quarterback who replaces him will need to have a grasp of the playbook. Fales checks that box. He spent time in the Bears and Dolphins organizations working with Adam Gase and Dowell Loggains.
Fales was a sixth round pick out of Chicago in 2014. His most extensive action in the NFL came in the final week of the 2017 season when he completed 29 of 42 passes for 265 yards, a touchdown, and an interception for Miami against Buffalo.
