Jets podcast: Reaction to the Sam Darnold news

Thursday was not a kind day to the Jets. The team announced quarterback Sam Darnold has been diagnosed with mononucleosis. Darnold has been ruled out of Monday’s game against Cleveland and will likely miss more time. He could be out quite a while.

On today’s podcast we discuss the news and what it means for the Jets. After losing to the Bills Week 1 some fans declared the season over. I thought that was an overreaction. I don’t think it’s an overreaction to say the season is likely over after this news.

This has been a difficult decade for the Jets. Some of it has been due to things the team has done wrong. Some of it has been due to bad luck. The Jets haven’t positioned themselves well to withstand something like this, but this clearly falls far more into the bad luck category.

Thanks for listening to the show.
