Jets claim Jordan Willis off waivers from the Bengals

NFL: Preseason-New York Giants at Cincinnati Bengals David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets had an open roster spot after placing Quincy Enunwa on injured reserve. The team has filled it by claiming Jordan Willis off waivers from the Bengals.

Willis was a third round pick of the Bengals in 2017. He was the odd man out in a numbers game in Cincinnati.

A Kansas State product, Willis has only 2 career sacks in a little over 2 seasons with the Bengals. He has been a very productive preseason player throughout his career, though. He has registered 8 sacks in 12 career preseason contests. He tied for the league lead with 4 during the 2017 preseason. He just hasn’t been able to produce a ton once the lights go on.

As with any waiver claim, expectations should probably be measured. The Bengals let him go for a reason. Without much edge talent on the roster, however, this still seems worth a swing worth taking for the Jets if nothing else.
