Roster cut deadline is Saturday.
The Jets, and all other NFL teams, are trimming their roster from 90 players to 53 players. The deadline to do so is 4 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, Saturday, August 31. Prior to cuts there are often last minute trades.
That means there will be a LOT of news over the next couple of days so stay tuned.
Then it’s the waiver wire.
After the Jets make their cuts on Saturday, they will start sifting through the waiver wire, looking at 1100 + newly cut NFL players to potentially add to the roster. The Jets could most likely be looking for cornerbacks, kickers, edge rushers, wide receivers and tight ends, in addition to any other cut players who might help them upgrade the roster.
The waiver wire claiming period ends on Sunday, September 1 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
Then the practice squad.
Following the waiver wire, the Jets and all other NFL teams will begin to sign players to the 10 man practice squad starting at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Sunday, September 1.
