Tonight is the induction ceremony for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
It is a special one for Jets fans. Center Kevin Mawae will be enshrined. In recent years a number of players who had brief stints with the Jets have been inducted such as Brett Favre and LaDainian Tomlinson. Ed Reed and Ty Law, who are also part of the class of 2019 spent a small part of their respective careers with the Jets.
These guys were great players, but they weren’t great Jets. Their Hall of Fame resumes were built elsewhere.
Mawae is different. He is a real Jet. His eight years with the team resulted in six Pro Bowls. He was the league’s preeminent center during that stretch. One of our own is getting in tonight.
In addition to Mawae, Reed and Law, Champ Bailey, Pat Bowlen, Gil Brandt, Tony Gonzalez, and Johnny Robinson will be honored tonight.
Things are scheduled to get started at 7:00 p.m. Eastern from Canton, Ohio. ESPN and NFL Network will broadcast.
Leave your thoughts below as you watch.
