In the preseason nothing is more important than avoiding injuries. Yes, you would like the team to play well. You certainly want to see young players start to emerge. It isn’t the end of the world if these things don’t happen, though. Things can improve once the regular season starts. Serious injuries have a longer lasting impact.
The Jets did not escape their second preseason game unscathed. Linebacker Avery Williamson suffered an ACL tear that will keep him out for the entire 2019 season. It also could conceivably bring his Jets career to an end, although that will not be decided for several more months.
On today’s podcast I offer some thoughts on what this injury means for the Jets. The team lost a good player, but I believe it is well-equipped to handle this injury and still provide excellent run defense.
Thanks as always for tuning in to the show.
