It’s now time to provide an update on how former Jets that are still in the NFL are faring with their current team.

In this first installment, we’ll be looking at anyone who was on the Jets’ roster or practice squad since final cuts last year. However, we’ll be back with another installment in a day or two to update you on less-recent Jets such as Sheldon Richardson and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

As ever, this list is intended to be exhaustive, but if we missed anyone, let us know in the comments.

  • Spencer Long, C, Buffalo

Long is currently listed as the Bills’ second-team center, but could see action with the starters this week because Mitch Morse has been out with a concussion. Jon Feliciano, the first-team right guard, started the first preseason at center and Long came off the bench at guard. He gave up one quarterback hit.

  • Andre Roberts, WR/KR/PR, Buffalo

Roberts had a couple of good punt returns in preseason with the Jets last year, but it wasn’t until the regular season that he really got going. He’s off to a slow start this year too. In the first preseason game, he fair caught his only punt return and caught an eight-yard pass on 3rd-and-16.

  • Mike Pennel, DL, New England

Pennel is listed as a starter but came off the bench in the first preseason game and only played five snaps. He didn’t make much of an impact.

  • Terrence Brooks, S, New England

Brooks is listed as a third-stringer but he actually did start the first preseason game. He made a third down stop in coverage, but also had a missed tackle on a running play.

  • Juston Burris, CB, Cleveland

Burris is actually listed as the third-string strong safety on the Browns’ unofficial depth chart. He helped his cause in the first preseason game by recording a sack, a tackle for loss on a running play and a special teams tackle.

  • Quadree Henderson, WR, Jacksonville

Henderson signed with the Jaguars after their first preseason game. He is currently listed as the second-string kickoff return and the fourth-string punt returner, but he’s listed as “other” on offense.

  • Terrelle Pryor, WR, Jacksonville

Pryor is currently listed as a third-unit wide receiver for the Jaguars. He didn’t play in the first preseason game.

  • DeAngelo Yancey, WR, Tennessee

Yancey signed with Tennessee over the weekend. He’s not currently listed on their depth chart.

  • Nico Falah, C, Denver

Falah, who was poached from the Jets’ practice squad last year, is already out for the season after having suffered a torn Achilles in May.

  • Jeremiah Attaochu, EDGE, Kansas City

Attaochu is listed on the second unit with the Chiefs and he had an active performance off the bench in the first preseason game. He had a run stuff, five pressures and a pass defensed. However, he also had a missed tackle and gave up a 16-yard pass in coverage.

  • Darron Lee, LB, Kansas City

Lee is currently listed on the second unit and came off the bench in the first preseason game. However, he led the Chiefs with eight tackles, including a couple of run stuffs. He had one missed tackle and gave up a couple of first downs and an illegal contact penalty in coverage.

  • Morris Claiborne, CB, Kansas City

Claiborne signed after the Chiefs’ first preseason game. He’s listed as “other” on the team’s depth chart having already been suspended for the first four games.

  • Neal Sterling, TE, Kansas City

Sterling was claimed by the Chiefs after the Jets released him in June. He was released by them on the second day of training camp.

  • Isaiah Crowell, RB, Oakland

Crowell’s season is already over, as he landed on injured reserve in April with a torn Achilles.

  • Tyvis Powell, S, Dallas

Powell was on the Jets’ practice squad for one week towards the end of last season. He is not currently listed on the Cowboys’ depth chart, which seems oddly incomplete. He actually played cornerback, not safety, in their first preseason game and had two tackles and a pass breakup, but also got beaten for a short touchdown.

  • ArDarius Stewart, WR, Washington

Stewart was signed to a futures deal at the end of the season, but then ended up being released just a week later.

  • Buster Skrine, CB, Chicago

Skrine is listed as a second-stringer in the Bears’ base defense, but is expected to take the starting nickel role. He did not play in the Bears’ first preseason game.

  • Kevin Pierre-Louis, LB, Chicago

Pierre-Louis is listed on the third unit with the Bears but has a good chance of making the team based on his special teams contributions alone. In the first preseason game, he had one special teams tackle. On defense, he had two tackles, including one for a loss, and added one pressure.

  • Jermaine Kearse, WR, Detroit

Kearse’s season is over already as he suffered a gruesome leg injury while blocking in the first quarter of the Lions’ preseason game.

  • Mark Thompson, RB, Detroit

Thompson spent time on the Jets’ practice squad last year and is now listed as an “other” on the Lions depth chart. He rushed for 21 yards on four carries in the first preseason game, including an 11-yard run.

  • Fred Jones, DT, Detroit

Jones, one of the Jets’ undrafted rookies, is now in Detroit where he too is listed as an “other”. He marked his first preseason appearance with a sack and one other tackle off the bench.

  • Ibraheim Campbell, S, Green Bay

Campbell, who played one defensive snap with the Jets, is currently on the PUP list for the Packers. He’s listed on the third unit.

  • Derrick Jones, CB, Green Bay

The Jets released Jones after their first preseason game and he was claimed by the Packers. Unfortunately, he failed his physical and was waived immediately.

  • De’Angelo Henderson, RB, Minnesota

Henderson is currently listed as “other” on the Vikings depth chart, but he had a solid performance in the first preseason game. He had a 13-yard run and two other first downs as he ended up with 42 yards on seven carries.

  • Dakota Dozier, G, Minnesota

Dozier is listed as a second-stringer for the Vikings and came off the bench for them in the first preseason game. He struggled a little in pass protection. Although he played left guard, he’s since been working at left tackle in practice.

  • James Carpenter, G, Atlanta

Carpenter is listed as the starting left guard for the Falcons, having signed a four-year deal. However, he’s been dealing with a hip flexor issue that has caused him to miss both of Atlanta’s preseason games so far.

  • Dieugot Joseph, OL, Atlanta

Joseph is listed as the third-string left tackle and has come off the bench in the two preseason games so far. His run blocking has been okay, but he gave up three pressures in the most-recent game, including a strip-sack on a play where he was called for a hold. He recovered the fumble though.

  • JJ Wilcox, S, Atlanta

Wilcox is already on injured reserve after having suffered an ACL tear in the first week of training camp.

  • Destiny Vaeao, DL, Carolina

Vaeao, who was activated for the final regular season game last year but didn’t play, is currently listed as a third-stringer with the Panthers. He didn’t play in their first preseason game.

  • Jonathan Celestin, LB, Carolina

Celestin, who was briefly on the Jets’ practice squad last season, is now listed as a third-string linebacker with the Panthers. He did not play in the first preseason game.

  • Josh Martin, EDGE, New Orleans

Martin is listed as a third-string off-ball linebacker, but played all his snaps on the edge as an outside linebacker in the first preseason game. He didn’t record any statistics.

  • Rishard Matthews, WR, New Orleans

Matthews was released after the game and has since opted to retire. He had caught one pass for seven yards.

  • Jordan Leggett, TE, Tampa Bay

Leggett is currently listed as a third-stringer with the Bucs. In the first preseason game he came off the bench and was targeted twice, but both passes were incomplete.

  • John Battle, S, Tampa Bay

Battle was one of the Jets’ undrafted free agent haul. He’s listed as a third-string safety right now but didn’t get any defensive reps in their first preseason game.

  • Xavier Ubosi, WR, Tampa Bay

The undrafted Ubosi was a waiver claim by the Jets who lasted just a day or two before being released. He lasted a little longer with the Bucs but was cut before camp.

  • Jason Myers, K, Seattle

Myers made two field goals and two extra points in the Seahawks’ first preseason game, including a 55-yarder. However, he also missed a 56-yarder. None of his kickoffs went for touchbacks either, although that may have been by design.

We’ll update you on these players again at the end of preseason and, don’t forget, there’s also part two to follow in a day or so.
