Jets kicker Chandler Catanzaro’s struggles in training camp and the preseason opener have essentially forced the Jets to examine alternatives.
The Daily News reports some of the names who will come in for workouts.
The Daily News has learned Gang Green will be holding kicker tryouts Saturday in the wake of Chandler Catanzaro’s latest shaky performance. Former Vikings All-Pro Blair Walsh will headline a group this weekend that also includes Chris Blewitt.
Walsh is a good example of how unstable kicker performance is. Prior to missing a 27 yard chip shot that would have won a 2015 Playoff game he was one of the league’s premier kickers. He had made 85% of his career field goal attempts prior to that point. Since then he has made only 73%. Walsh last kicked with Seattle in 2017.
Blewitt spent part of the offseason on the Bears roster and kicked in college for Pittsburgh.
