Good morning, Gang Green Nation! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. Marcus Maye, who is currently on PUP, still hasn’t been cleared to practice for his ongoing shoulder issue that he suffered last season. I think the timetable is a little long for his injury, but hopefully it’s just a precautionary measure to make sure he’s good to go for the regular season. I think the Jets for the purpose of protecting their own necks, should start looking into signing/drafting another safety to hold the fort in the case of a lingering issue with Maye, or even a possible injury to Jamal Adams. The team’s depth there isn’t a strong as some people may believe, and I think that adding another solid member to the secondary could provide stability for the team, especially in Nickel or Dime packages. With the way the NFL is progressing towards more passing and WR’s on the field, having a defense that can field competent secondary members could do wonders. For example, Malcolm Jenkins plays around half of his snaps at slot corner, although his designated position is safety. I think if the Jets moved more towards a ‘positionless’ secondary, it could really allow for interchangeable parts for the defense and cause confusion for opposing offenses. With that, here are your links to the team for this Thursday.
