Names are emerging as possibilities in Joe Douglas’ front office with the Jets. A big one who could be on the radar is ESPN’s Todd McShay.
Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports was the first to suggest this was a possibility.
Breaking: I’m now hearing @McShay13 is joining his college roommate Joe Douglas with @nyjets as VP of Personal.

Rich Cimini confirmed that McShay is a possibility.

This would be an unorthodox hire since McShay has never worked for an NFL team. In the weeks leading up to Douglas’ hiring, there were rumors about Dan Jeremiah of NFL Network potentially joining the team’s front office in some capacity. The difference is Jeremiah worked in the league before going to television. He and Douglas were part of Baltimore’s front office together.
Mind you, unorthodox doesn’t necessarily mean bad. We have seen enough outside the box hires work in the NFL to dismiss anything out of hand. McShay does have a lot of scouting experience, even if that work hasn’t come directly for a team in the NFL.
