Let’s take a moment to recap the current state of the Jets general manager search.
.....................................
Three candidates have interviewed for the job so far.
Scott Fitterer (Seahawks)
UPDATE: We have completed an interview with Seattle’s Scott Fitterer for our GM vacancy.

.....................................
One candidate is interviewing on Monday.
Champ Kelly (Bears)
Bears ass't director of player personnel Champ Kelly is dining with the Jets brass in Jersey tonight, will interview for the vacant GM job tomorrow.

That'll make 4 for the Jets, with interviews with Scott Fitterer (Friday), Terry Fontenot (Saturday) and Joe Douglas (today) done.
(This tweet was from Sunday.)
.....................................
One candidate rejected the Jets’ interview request.
George Paton (Vikings)
#Vikings assistant GM George Paton turned down the #Jets request to interview him, sources tell me and @ChadGraff.

He did the same the two other times the Jets asked to chat.
.....................................
At this point Douglas appears to be the heavy favorite.
Lombardi makes it sound like Joe Douglas as #Jets GM is a formality at this point. “Everybody tells me it’s his job.” Also suggests Douglas “wants to leave Philly” & run his own team. #Eagles https://t.co/2wKQQAdvud

Last night in our Q&A session, @TonyPauline reported that Joe Douglas to the #Jets as their GM is a done deal.

"Someone I trust told me the word is Douglas is a done deal and the Jets are just going through the motions interviewing the other candidates."https://t.co/E8OQDHlRoY
Eagles exec Joe Douglas remains the favorite to be the next Jets GM.

Barring an unimpressive interview with Chris Johnson this weekend (& financial hangup), Douglas appears in line to take over.
Douglas is well-respected as a talent evaluator... & Adam Gase’s choice all along
.....................................
After the interview of Kelly is complete, the first round will be complete. A decision could follow soon. If the numerous reports signaling Douglas are correct, and he did a good job at the interview he could be offered the job within the next few days. If something unexpected happens, there could be a second round of interviews, or the Jets conceivably could expand the search.
We know some things at this point, but we await the big decision.
