The Jets have signed third round pick Chuma Edoga to his rookie contract.

Quinnen Williams is the only unsigned pick from the 2019 Draft class for the Jets. We now await his signing.

Edoga is going to have a big opportunity with the team. It won’t be immediate as he is slated to be a depth player for 2019. However, both starting tackles are hitting free agency for the Jets. The team would benefit greatly from a cost controlled tackle like Edoga being able to slide into a starting role in 2020. It would add to the team’s financial flexibility approaching next offseason. Given the lack of investment Mike Maccagnan made in young offensive linemen, Edoga won’t have much competition. The cupboard is bare aside from him.

All of that depends on Edoga developing over the next year into the type of player who is capable of starting in the NFL.
