On the hiring of Joe Douglas:

On the hiring of Joe Douglas:

We’ve done it. Do we just get a ring now or... how does this work

On the hiring of Joe Douglas:

Celebrate friends

This is the most promising direction the jets have been headed in for a long time. The circus to get here was unfortunate but I firmly believe this was the correct decision. Maccagnan is a goner and the guy replacing him has truly impressive credentials. Most importantly he is undoubtedly aligned with Gase in terms of strategy and team building. This is the best possible pairing we could hope for with the current structure of the jets organization. Two proven football minds that are working together on the same page with a young franchise QB already on the team. Enjoy ur Friday night fellas!!!!

On the Texans firing their GM:

Texans just fired their GM.

Waiting to see if they get the “clown” treatment we got.

On Joe Douglas’ likely success in the GM role:

This is the Sam Darnold of GM candidates. Nothing is a lock, but there’s a lot to suggest he will project well to the role.

On Joe Douglas having a “Rolodex” of contacts around the league:

Tangent Questions

What percentage of GGN had to Google (or Bing) what a “Rolodex” was?AND What percentage became infuriated that Douglas might actually be using that archaic way of storing his connections?

On why McShay would want to join an NFL Front Office:

I dunno...

But IF I was mcshay, i would jump at the chance to work for a team. Why? 1) The experience to actually work for a team, and not just talk about it, would be the biggest lure.2) Making sure that if I left ESPN, that I can come back to ESPN should it not work out, stating that the experience of working in a team would be invaluable when talking mock drafts, the thinking process, the drafting process, free agency, etc etc. 3) One up on kiper.

On coaches who are bad with time management:

I’ve always found the concept of professional coaches who are bad with clock management to be ridiculous. It should be down to a science in so many cases. Have a game situation coach whose only job is to basically say “what the book tells us to do here.” I don’t think every decision is a no-brainer and sometimes circumstances do dictate a deviation (e.g. your run game has gone nowhere all game, so maybe a run on 4th and 1 is a bad idea) but in general a lot of this stuff should be down to formulas.

On how the hiring of Joe Douglas helps Adam Gases’ case:

Adam Gase

I think his comment that Adam Gase was a significant factor in recruiting him to join the Jets certainly lends credibility to Adam. A lot of folks on this site were pretty negative when he was hired. There is a lot of talk about how he had a losing record in Miami. Keep in mind Bella check had a losing record in Cleveland during his first head coach job. I’m hoping all the naysayers were wrong.

On how the hiring of Joe Douglas proves Adam Gase isn’t in charge:

As far As Douglas goes

This is a great move, it actually shows in my opinion all the Gase is in charge talk as nonsense. A guy doesnt get 6 years and major $$$ for GM to be someone’s fluzie. Joe will.definitely listen to his coaches wants and needs ,but Joe will also build this team for the future as well. I personally think Chris Johnson has done a good job this off season and actually see an owner that the players seem to like. The kharma is finally leaning to the Green.
