In the grand scheme of things the introductory press conference is the easiest thing for a general manager to do well and the least important day on the job. The hard and important job is what follows, building a winning team.
With that said, Joe Douglas impressed plenty of people at his introductory press conference today. Here are some of the highlights.
On his relationships
“We will walk together forever through the history of professional football,” Joe Douglas says of the #Eagles front office & coaching staff & their 2017 Super Bowl title

Because no introductory press conference would be complete without a few cliches
Joe Douglas: We’re going to find passionate people who love the game of football, who hate losing more than they love winning. #Jets

“You’re getting a GM that’s a relentless worker. Someone that understands a winning culture. Someone that will put out a product on Sundays that competes for greatness and one that I hope will make you proud.” #TakeFlight https://t.co/pEoCVgIYSn

Douglas on team-building philosophy: QB is the most important position. After that, offensive and defensive lines. JD: "Football is a game of wills. We're going to try to build a team that can impose their will on other teams and to do that you have to be strong up front." #Jets

Impressions
Only one press conference, but I was impressed by Joe Douglas. He was engaging, presented a vision for the team, outlined his football philosophy. There won’t be any memes off this presser. Solid. #Jets

Joe Douglas won the press conference. Very good communicator, had plenty of good answers, has an idea of what he wants. We'll see how the games go now. #nyj
