On the notion that Gase doesn’t hang out with Yes Men:

”Gase said he doesn’t hang out with yes men.”

Which is why your buddy Dowell Loggains came along for the ride as your OC despite literally zero evidence indicating he’s a difference-maker as a coach in any capacity? Okay.

On the media saying Gase stabbed Mike Maccagnan in the back:

It’s funny how none of these reporters

Asked Macc if he stabbed bowles in the back. Occasionally I sympathize with the decline of the newspaper industry then I remember how many hacks are in the NY media

On the Gase-Maccagnan relationship:

I don’t think Gase stabbed Mac in the back.

I just think he doesn’t politic. He bluntly says what he thinks and it caused Johnson to take a thorough assessment of Maccagnan. I don’t think he was running to CJ’s office to complain. I think he voiced his opinions straight to Mac’s face. And once word got around the office about their disagreements it forced CJ to start asking around, and in doing so came to realize just how feeble the operation was behind the scenes. I hate the timing of it all, but I’m encouraged that CJ figured it out (albeit late) and that maybe he’ll learned from it. There’s legitimate hope that we have a real plan going forward.

On the GM candidates:

According to Charles Robinson, these are the guys the Jets are considering for the GM job

Joe Douglas: Douglas would be the top candidate for any open GM job according to Robinson, and as such is expected to be picky about which job he takes similar to Chris Ballard. Outside of Douglas, it’s a bunch of names we’ve already heard in Lance Newmark, Champ Kelly, and Adam Peters. However, there is a new name that has joined the fray in Vikings Vice President of player personnel/assistant GM George Paton. Paton is on the Joe Douglas level of coveted GM candidates and has been highly sought after for years. He has been choosy about which jobs he’s interviewed for though, and there has been some thought he doesn’t want to leave Minnesota. Paton and his agent have shot that thought down. Paton has interviewed for the 49ers job in 2017 before it went to John Lynch, and he interviewed for the Colts job before it went to Ballard. Paton was also considered then odds on favorite for the Packers recent GM opening, but the Vikings blocked him from interviewing. Three other teams have previously requested to interview Paton in the past and he decided against interviewing, those jobs being the Dolphins job that went to Tanny, the Chiefs job that went to Veatch, and the Jets job that went to Macc. Who knows if his opinion of the Jets job has changed in the last 4 years, but he would be an exciting hire if the Jets could pull it off. That said he has no relationship with Gase and is likely a guy been pushed by Woody and Hymie Elhai, so I have no idea if he would get the job even if he interviewed.

On if the Jets limit their GM’s duties:

If the Jets don’t offer Douglas or any GM candidate full roster power then we’re not going anywhere and the Johnsons haven’t learned anything. This is probably the single biggest reason why the Johnsons have been failures since taking over. Limiting our options to lesser talent.

-shiff71

On Gase’s general perception:

From what I’ve seen

The Football guys in the media like Gase. The journalism school guys hate him.

-JetsNJ78

On losing Buster Skrine:

Skrine is a key loss…for our opponents
