The Adam Gase general manager era has begun. The Jets have traded former first round pick Darron Lee to the Chiefs in exchange for a sixth round pick.
Trade: Chiefs and Jets agreed to trade terms for LB Darron Lee, league source tells ESPN. A 6th-round pick in 2020 for Lee, per league source.

Lee was picked by the Jets 20th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. His first two years were disappointing. He showed improvement during his third season, but it ended with a four game suspension for a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.
It seemed clear his days with the team were numbered once free agency started, and the Jets were linked with virtually every big name linebacker available. The team eventually signed C.J. Mosley away from Baltimore on a record setting deal.
A sixth round pick isn’t much, but Lee was only going to stick around for year more year at the most as a backup. Then he would be gone in free agency, and the Jets would have received nothing in return.
