Luvu was signed last year as an undrafted free agent out of Washington State, Although he was initially signed to the practice squad, he was promoted to the active roster early in the season.
I think it’s fair to say that Luvu beat the very modest expectations for undrafted rookies. He finished the season with 3 sacks. While Brandon Copeland got a moderate amount of love in the fanbase for his marginal production, by my calculations, Luvu hit the quarterback on a higher amount of his pass rushing snaps. And while Copeland was a 27 year old journeyman, Luvu was a 22 year old rookie. If you are looking for somebody to help the Jets as a situational pass rusher, put your money on Luvu, not Copeland. He flashed a spin move a little bit last year. Perhaps he can help the team with an offseason to grow.
As for Henderson, you could be forgiven for asking, “Who?” He bounced between the Jets’ practice squad and the active roster after spending the 2017 season and 2018 training camp with the Broncos. He got 2 carries with the Jets in 2018.
