Just before the legal tampering period of 2019 NFL free agency began we ran a little contest here at GGN. The Pick 9 Free Agents contest was simple. Give us nine names you think the Jets will sign in 2019 free agency. The names had to be outside free agents, so re-signing Jets free agents didn’t count.
A total of 28 contestants submitted entries. Looking over the results, as individuals we stink at understanding the mind of Jets GM Mike Maccagnan. Only one entry successfully identified more than one Jets free agent signing, and that entrant, the winner of the contest, got two right. However, as a group things look much better. Although not a single entrant correctly identified any of the smaller Jets signings, the group as a whole had at least one vote for each of the Jets four major signings. In addition, the almost signing of Anthony Barr was submitted more than any other choice, with more than half selecting Barr as one of their choices. 39% correctly chose Le’Veon Bell. 11% got Jamison Crowder right, 7% got C.J. Mosley, and a single entrant managed to correctly identify Brian Poole. On the whole the group was able to correctly identify every major signing, including a few guys like Mosley and Crowder who weren’t getting a lot of Jets buzz heading into free agency. A majority of the group also correctly identified one Jets almost signing in Barr. As a group Gang Green Nation did well in identifying the major targets, even if no one individual managed to run the table.
All that is interesting, but we’re here to unveil the champion. So without further ado, I bring you the 2019 Pick 6 Free Agents champion. Take a bow, Zinn2322, you nailed both Le’Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder, the only entrant to correctly identify two Jets free agent signings. Well done.
