Exclusive rights free agents are players with expired contracts and less than three years in the NFL. Even though they are free agents, they were not allowed to sign contracts with any other teams as long as the Jets made them an offer by a deadline. Their options were to either accept the Jets’ offer or not play in the NFL.
Webb will likely battle Trevor Siemian for the backup quarterback job. There is no guarantee the Jets will keep three quarterbacks so it might be back to the practice squad for him if he loses the battle.
Burnett’s odds of making an impact likely took a big hit with the signing of Jamison Crowder.
Braden, Clark, and Middleton will compete for depth spots. In the cases of Braden and Clark, there will be plenty of opportunity since the play positions where the Jets lack depth.
