Gang Green Nation Reader Spotlight: Andrcom

The Basics:

What’s your name and/or username? andrcom

What city/state do you live in? Bedford NY

How old are you? 64 years old.

The Miscellaneous:

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Appreciate what you have! (it could always be worse).

If you could grab lunch with anybody in the past, present or future—dead or alive, who would it be and why? My father

If you were stranded on a deserted island for the rest of forever, which musical artist would you be listening to, and which television series would you be watching? Boz Scaggs and Ray Donavan

The Jets Related Questions:

How did you become a Jets fan? I don’t know, and I consider it more of a curse then anything else. I am 64 and have been a huge fan as long as I can remember.

What’s your favorite Jets memory? What about your most painful Jets memory? Favorite memory? Getting Parcells as our head coach. Most painful? It’s a tie between the second half of the 1998 AFC Championship game and the 16th game of the first season with Todd Bowles (loss to Buffalo).

In your humble opinion, who is the most dominant Jet to ever play and why? Joe Klecko or Wayne Chrebet, Heart.

Who is your favorite Jets player and why? Current player? Sorry, don’t have one.

If Woody Johnson handed you a blank check and gave you a choice to be a part of the New York Jets organization in any capacity, which position would you choose, and why? (It could be GM, Head Coach, Quarterback, Linebacker, Head of Scouting, Waterboy—the sky is the limit). President of Football Operations. This is a position that does not exist in the NY Jets. We currently have a set up where GM and Coach both answer to the owner. In my opinion this has not worked. The owner needs to completely uninvolve himself, and get folks who know what they are doing. Moreover in 18 years he has owned the club, we have had numerous rookie head coaches and GMs. We need a Proven GM to hire his head coach and build his program. This would be my position. Build a firewall between Woody and the team and hire a proven GM. GM would hire the best head coach he can. No more rookie experiments.

Mike Maccagnan gets fired after the season and Woody Johnson decides to name you the next GM, giving you one very clear goal: win the Super Bowl within the next 4 years. What is your strategy to make the Jets a Super Bowl winner? What is your strategy to build this team into a perennial Super Bowl contender? Truth be told I would have fired both at the end of last season. I would demand we overhaul the offensive line and assemble skill players who can score and carry the offense. Under Bowles, defense has always been the priority but simply stated they do not play as good as Bowles thinks. Just look at the last game where Bowles defers after winning the coin toss. The Bills score in two plays and the JETS were never in the game. The O goes 3 and out and the other team marches down the field. Bowles is a horrible coach. The players may claim he is great, but put simply they don’t play for him. All the penalties are evidence they are an undisciplined and unfocused. My biggest fear? Woody (or Chris) wont fire them! This is a debacle.

*side note—-the answer to this question was given before Bowles was fired.
