Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets

Good morning, Gang Green Nation! I hope everyone’s having a great start to their day. Kind of overlooked yesterday was the fact that a handful of rule changes are going to take effect in the NFL starting this upcoming season. One of the more controversial is the replay of Pass Interference calls (both offense and defense), which as noted for a while now, probably could have helped secure the Saints’ bid for a SB appearance. I think it’s frankly absurd that a rule change even has to be in place for something that should be handled by the referees. What exactly are they paying these guys for if a rule has to be in place to make sure they’re correct on (mostly) obvious calls? Another rule change, and this one I really don’t like, is that blindsided blocks are going to become illegal. I think this goes in the long line of ‘player safety’, but the reality is that you can’t ‘safely’ take hits out of the game, regardless. The amount of perceived protection from helmets and pads give players the confidence to go full force into their tackles, regardless of bodily harm. Rule changes based on tackling, hits, defenseless WR’s, etc, WILL NOT CHANGE THIS. It’s only a matter of time before the fields become an endless land of pillows, with the football being replaced with a Nerf Ball. Rant over. With that said, here are your links to the team for this Thursday.
