Brian Poole to visit the Jets in free agency

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Atlanta Falcons Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Free agent cornerback Brian Poole will be visiting the Jets according to one report.

Lost in all of the excitement of the moves the Jets have made is the reality this team currently has zero reliable cornerbacks under contract. That’s a bit of a problem considering the defensive coordinator has a reputation for blitzing a lot.

The Jets are going to have to dip into the free agent market to address this issue, but Poole probably isn’t the place to go.

Poole isn’t much of a cover guy. He has allowed 598 yards or more in all three of his NFL seasons. The Falcons had a chance to retain him on a cheap one year deal because he was a restricted free agent. They decided not to offer him that deal, which allowed Poole to hit the market as an unrestricted free agent.

The Jets might need corners, but I don’t think this is the guy they need.
