After a Tuesday in free agency which had little in the way of good news, this is likely a deal that will please Jets fans.
Bell, of course, sat out the entire 2018 season rather than play on the franchise tag. Reports indicate that a market never really developed for him. The Jets had seemed like the favorite from the start. They had the most cash available, and they lacked any sort of high end talent, making them a logical fit.
Bell will likely become the centerpiece of Adam Gase’s offense. He’s one of the best runners in the league and one of the top receivers out of the backfield.
He also comes with some baggage and other question marks, but the Jets aren’t in a position to let those things get in the way of adding a premium talent.
