Report: Jets Expected To Re-Sign CB Darryl Roberts

According to Manish Mehta the New York Jets have come to terms on a new contract with veteran cornerback Darryl Roberts.

Terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed.

The 28 year old Roberts was having the best year of his career in 2018 until the Jets switched him to safety after Marcus Maye was lost for the season to injury. Roberts looked lost as a safety, but was reasonably effective in extensive playing time in 2018 at cornerback. Roberts had 48 tackles, seven passed defended, three tackles for loss and one interception in 2018, playing in all 16 games and starting 10.

With Morris Claiborne and Buster Skrine both currently unrestricted free agents, the Jets are down to one starting cornerback on the roster - the much maligned Trumaine Johnson. Depending on how the Jets choose to spend their free agent dollars, it is possible Darryl Roberts will be counted on as one of the starting cornerbacks for the Jets in 2019.
