SNF: Rams vs Seahawks Game Thread

Sunday Night Football, Week 14. Tonight the Los Angeles Rams host the Seattle Seahawks.

The Rams come into this game trying to salvage a season that started with Super Bowl dreams and is now teetering on the brink of playoff irrelevancy. The Rams’ season has been sabotaged by the regression of young quarterback Jared Goff, as well as the decline of the once fierce Rams defense. The Rams have not strung together more than two wins in a row since September, and have not beaten a serious playoff contender since September. The Rams have done a poor job protecting their home field, with just a 3-3 record at home this year. Still, despite all the troubles, a win tonight against the Seahawks would keep the Rams squarely in the hunt for the final wild card spot in the NFC playoffs. A loss would all but eliminate the Rams from playoff contention.

The Seahawks come into this game as hot as any team in the NFL. Winners of five straight and eight of their last nine, the Seahawks are looking like a Super Bowl team, with wins against the San Francisco 49ers and the Minnesota Vikings included in their last three games. The Seahawks are undefeated on the road this year, a fact that bodes ill for a Rams team that has struggled at home. Russell Wilson, having the finest year of his Hall of Fame career, leads a Seahawks team that is winning in spite of, rather than because of, their defense for a change. The Seahawks need this win to keep pace with the 49ers and the Saints for a first round bye in the NFC playoffs.

It’s the Rams and the Seahawks in a game with major playoff implications for both teams in an NFC West showdown on Sunday Night Football. Enjoy the game everybody.
