On a miserable wet, windy and cold afternoon in Buffalo the New York Jets beat the Buffalo Bills, 13 - 6, to close out the 2019 Jets season.

The first half saw the Bills revive the classic Grunt and Punt offense, as they repeatedly went three and out. The Jets, polite guests that they were, refused to take advantage of the Bills’ hospitality. Sloppy play by Sam Darnold, a terrible reversal by the referees on a Tarell Basham strip sack, and awful kicking by Sam Ficken kept the score to just 3 - 0 at the half, despite the Jets dominating in yards gained, 177 to 62.

In a thrilling third quarter the Bills marched up and down the field to put up three points and pull into a 3 - 3 tie going into the fourth quarter.

The Jets answered in the fourth quarter with a drive culminating in a Sam Darnold to Jamison Crowder touchdown pass, giving the Jets a 10 - 3 lead in a spine tingling contest. The Jets later added a Sam Ficken field goal with just over two minutes remaining in the game to forge a 13 - 3 lead. The Bills answered by driving right down the field for a field goal to pull within seven points with just under a minute to play. The ensuing onsides kick failed, and one of the most scintillating displays of offensive ineptitude by both teams you will ever see in the NFL mercifully ended the Jets season.

With the win the Jets finish the 2019 season with a 7-9 record and a ninth straight year without a playoff berth.
