Jets vs Steelers Game Thread

It’s week 16 of the 2019 NFL season and the New York Jets are home at MetLife Stadium to face the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Last week the Jets took on the Baltimore Ravens on the road and got crushed, 42-21, in a game that was not as close as that blowout score might suggest. This week’s matchup against the Steelers will present a more manageable challenge.

The Pittsburgh Steelers come into this game off a tough 17-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills last week. Despite that loss, the Steelers are a hot team, winners of seven of their last nine games. With future Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger out injured since the first game of the year the Steelers have had to lean on their defense to win games, and after a rocky start to the season the defense has been more than up to the challenge. The Steelers defense has limited each of their last five opponents to less than 300 yards of total offense, and they have held nine of their last 11 opponents under 200 yards of passing offense. This Steelers defense presents an extremely difficult challenge for a Jets offense that is one of the worst in the NFL. On the other hand, the Steelers have gotten awful quarterback play in Roethlisberger’s absence, and the Steelers have not scored more than 23 points in any of their last six games. It all adds up to the prospect of a tight defensive struggle.

The Steelers need this game to keep pace with the Tennessee Titans for the last wild card playoff spot in the AFC. The Jets are playing only for pride.

It’s the 5-9 walking wounded New York Jets and the 8-6 Pittsburgh Steelers coming your way today. Please leave your comments in the section cleverly marked “comments” below. Enjoy the game everybody.
