Only two games remain for the Jets in their 2019 season. They will have something to say about the AFC Playoff race. Their two opponents, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills, currently occupy the conference’s two Wild Card slot. The Bills have clinched a postseason berth, but they might take the field Week 17 with a shot to win the AFC East.
The games also have a degree of meaning for a number of Jets players. Performing well for two games at the end of a lost season only means so much, but these contests will serve as an audition of sorts for a some on the roster. Due to injuries, players who started the season as afterthoughts are looking at extensive playing time. While they likely cannot lock in big contracts or even guaranteed starting roles, they can at least make the Jets consider them when constructing the 2020 roster and potential camp battles.
On today’s podcast I discuss some of these players.
