Jets vs Bengals Game Thread

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

It’s week 13 of the 2019 NFL season and the New York Jets are on the road to take on the Cincinnati Bengals.

Last week the Jets squared off against the Oakland Raiders and blew them out to extend their winning streak to three games. Could this week’s matchup against the Bengals produce a fourth straight win?

The Bengals have been a disaster this year. Long time head coach Marvin Lewis was fired after last season and the Bengals brought in Zac Taylor to replace him. So far that has not gone well. The Bengals are the only winless team left in the NFL in 2019. The offense has been bad, the defense has been bad, there really haven’t been too many strong points for this Bengals team, although the defense has played better the last few weeks. The Bengals benched long time starting quarterback Andy Dalton for ineffective play halfway through the season, replacing him with rookie Ryan Finley. After three weeks of even more ineffective play, the Bengals now are going back to Andy Dalton for today’s game. It’s been that kind of year for the Bengals.

In contrast, the Jets are on the upswing after starting the year almost as poorly as the Bengals. After getting off to a 1-7 start which featured one of the worst offenses and offensive lines in memory, the Jets have turned a corner of late. Three straight wins, including last week’s destruction of the 6-5 Oakland Raiders, have Jets fans excited about the future of this team. If the Jets can manage to shut down the Bengals and come away with a fourth straight victory today, they will be within striking distance of a .500 record, something almost unthinkable a few weeks ago.

It’s the 4-7 Jets and the 0-11 Bengals coming your way today. Please leave your comments in the section cleverly marked “comments” below. Enjoy the game everybody.
