Jets vs. Bengals: Five Bold Predictions

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets William Hauser-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets come into this game against the winless Bengals on their first 3 game winning streak in years and look to surpass last year’s win total against the NFL’s most hapless team. Despite the odds stacking in the Jets favor, they’ve already lost to a winless Dolphins team just a year after giving the Browns their first win in over a season. Nevertheless, it’s hard to pick against the Jets this week, as the Bengals have been a complete catastrophe all season. This gives us a prime opportunity to go bold.

Disclaimer: Bold Predictions are not realistic expectations for the game, but rather something that is unlikely to happen, yet possible. These predictions are both pro-Jets and stretch the boundaries of probability. Claiming that Sam Darnold throws a touchdown pass is not a Bold Prediction, nor is claiming that Sam Darnold throws 20 touchdown passes. These predictions must be within the bounds of possibility, but also highly improbable. As always, the final score prediction remains a realistic guess at the result of the game and does not relate to the Bold Predictions.

Here are my five bold predictions for today’s game:

  • Four Jets catch a touchdown pass from Sam Darnold.
  • The Bengals fail to record a tackle for loss or sack.
  • The Jets offense records over 500 total yards.
  • The Bengals are held to under 50 rushing yards.
  • Sam Darnold posts a perfect passer rating.

Final Score: Jets 27, Bengals 17

And a bonus prediction: Five Jets record a sack.
