Jets podcast: The ugly state of things

NFL: New York Jets at Buffalo Bills Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Somehow in talking for approximately 25 minutes on Monday about why Adam Gase needs to be fired I didn’t even get through all of my notes. On today’s podcast I continue Monday’s discussion and speak about the ugly state of the New York Jets.

I am hesitant to say this is rock bottom. The way this team has operated, there always seems to be a new rock bottom waiting around the corner. I’m not even sure a new rock bottom is necessarily the worst thing in the world in the long run. Utter humiliation of the ownership is the only way to guarantee change.

On today’s show there is also discussion of how we got here. It isn’t an accident that the Jets find themselves in this situation. Ownership’s inexperience and lack of curiosity set the stage, as did a coach’s refusal to admit to mistakes.

Thanks for listening to the show.
