Sunday Night Football, Week 12. Tonight the Green Bay Packers travel west to take on the San Francisco 49ers.
This game is what prime time football should be: two of the best teams in the NFL duking it out in front of a national audience.
The 9-1 49ers have taken the league by storm this season with their old school formula of pounding the rock and playing great defense. That great defense has begun to show a few cracks in recent weeks as the 49ers have given up 25 or more points in three straight games. However, the 49ers offense has picked up the slack, scoring an average of more than 29 points per game over that stretch. The 49ers only loss this season came at home in overtime two weeks ago against the 8-2 Seattle Seahawks. This a deep, talented, tough, well balanced 49ers team that is primed to make a deep run in the playoffs.
Perhaps the 49ers will find the Packers waiting for them in the playoffs. The Packers are back with a vengeance in 2019, winners of five of their last six games and eight of 10 overall. Though the Packers are not among the league leaders in many offensive or defensive categories, the key ingredient in their stellar record in 2019 has been their turnover differential. The Packers are among the best teams in the NFL in avoiding offensive turnovers and generating defensive turnovers. As a result the Packers have only lost the turnover battle twice this year. Not coincidentally, the Packers have only lost twice this year.
It’s the Packers and the 49ers in one of the best matchups of the 2019 NFL season on Sunday Night Football. This is must see NFL action.
Enjoy the game everybody.
