The Colts come into this game on the upswing, having gotten starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett back from in jury last week in time to blow out the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts are a different team offensively with Brissett behind center. In the one game Brissett didn’t start this year the Colts were held to a season low 12 points in an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the lowly Miami Dolphins.
The Texans are coming off an embarrassing loss of their own, a 41 - 7 demolition at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens last week. Outside of that loss Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is having a great season, and the Texans offense has been a force to be reckoned with.
The Colts and the Texans come into this game tied for first place in the AFC South. Both teams have won four of their last six games. Indianapolis has won this year based on an old school pound the rock and play tough defense philosophy. But with star running back Marlon Mack out with a broken hand, a greater burden may fall on Brissett and the Colts passing game. The Texans have relied on a prolific offense to compensate for suspect defensive play. Thus this game sets up as a classic clash of a top defense versus a top offense. The winner emerges as the front runner for the division crown; the loser sinks into a large number of teams competing for the wild card slots.
It’s the Colts and the Texans in an AFC South showdown tonight on Thursday Night Football. Enjoy the game everybody.
