Monday Night Football, Week 10. Tonight the Seattle Seahawks head south to take on the undefeated San Francisco 49ers in San Francisco, California.

This is the best game of the week in the NFL. The 49ers are the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL at 8-0. They are something of a throwback team, winning with one of the best defenses in football and a dominant rushing attack. This is old fashioned smash mouth football the 49ers are playing, and it’s working. Unfortunately for the 49ers, they may be missing their injured superstar tight end George Kittle tonight. Kittle is by far the 49ers’ most dangerous weapon in the passing game, as well as an outstanding run blocker. His absence could be a big blow to the 49ers offense.

The Seahawks used to win the way the 49ers are winning now, with elite defense and an elite and prolific rushing attack. The times they are a changin’ however, as sublime Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson drags the Seahawks offense into the 21st century. Gone are the days when the Seahawks defense could win games on its own. This Seahawks defense is a shell of its former best-in-the-NFL self. The rushing game is also not what it once was, with no elite back and a middle of the road yards per carry number. Now the Seahawks are all about Russell Wilson, in the midst of an MVP type season. The future Hall of Fame quarterback is having a career year, leading the NFL in touchdowns with 22, while throwing the fewest interceptions, one, and leading the NFL in passer rating. This Seahawks team will go only as far as the great Russell Wilson can take them. It will be fascinating to see how he fares against the rugged 49ers defense.

It’s the 49ers and the Seahawks in what could be a preview of the NFC Championship game on Monday Night Football.

Enjoy the game everybody.
