Final Score: Jets 34, Giants 27

NFL: New York Giants at New York Jets Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

On a brisk November afternoon in the Meadowlands, in the Jets’ 9th game of the 2019 season, the New York Jets defeated the New York Giants, 34 - 27.

The game started out all Jets. The Jets scored touchdowns on their first two possessions while stopping the Giants on a three and out to open up an early 14 - 0 lead, dominating first quarter action.

From there the game reversed course, as the Jets offense was completely shut down in the second quarter while the Giants scored two touchdowns of their own. A missed Giants extra point was the difference as the Jets went into the locker room at halftime with a 14 - 13 lead.

In the second half Jamal Adams opened with an incredible play, blowing by Saquon Barkley, then ripping the ball away from Daniel Jones and running the ball in for a touchdown. The Giants answered with a long screen pass to Golden Tate for a touchdown, missing the extra point, bringing the score to 21 - 19, Jets. The Giants went on to take a 27 - 21 lead before the Jets came roaring back.

The Jets scored the last 13 points in this see-saw contest to win going away, 34 - 27. Sam Darnold did a nice job taking care of the football and leading scoring drives in the face of some heavy pressure. The defense had trouble stopping the Giants’ passing game, but made just enough big plays to secure the win.

With the win the Jets record improves to 2 - 7 on the year, with a game against the Washington Redskins on tap next week.
