It’s week five of the 2019 NFL season and the New York Jets are hitting the road to do battle with the Philadelphia Eagles in the City of Brotherly Love.
Five weeks into the season the Jets are downtrodden and forlorn. Sam Darnold remains on the sidelines with a spleen that is three sizes too big. As a result Luke Falk gets his second career start at quarterback for the Jets, and Jets fans get the privilege of knowing it will take a minor miracle to win behind this quarterback. Rookie defensive lineman Quinnen Williams makes his return to the Jets lineup today after missing the last two games with an injury. The Jets also have made a couple of changes on the offensive line, with rookie tackle Chuma Edoga getting his first NFL start in place of an ineffective Brandon Shell, and veteran guard Alex Lewis replacing an injured Kelechi Osemele. We’ll see if these changes can begin to improve what has been an offensive offensive line.
The Jets will still be missing Brandon Copeland, Jordan Jenkins, Avery Williamson, C.J. Mosley, Quincy Enunwa, and Chris Herndon, among others. That means the Jets are still missing the starting and backup quarterbacks, a starting guard, all four starting linebackers, a starting wide receiver and the starting tight end for those keeping score at home. It’s difficult to win like that.
It’s the Jets and the Eagles in a rivalry in which the Jets have never won a game. Leave your comments in the section cleverly marked “comments” below. Enjoy the game everybody.
