The Jets traded former first round pick Leonard Williams yesterday. In a span of months, the team has now dealt its top picks from the 2015 and 2016 NFL Drafts. Williams is on his way to the crosstown Giants in exchange for a third round pick and a conditional future pick that could either be a fourth or a fifth rounder depending on whether the Giants re-sign him.
On today’s podcast I discuss the trade. The Jets got more in exchange for Williams than I expected them to get. The team did not have much choice but to deal him. It would have been difficult to justify re-signing him for what it would take. While he wasn’t a total failure, he ultimately goes down as yet another disappointing selection. In the long run, the Jets added some assets to help with their latest rebuilding attempt.
Thanks as always for listening to the show.
