What a miserable game. I had to rewatch this one carefully because it was the first game in over a decade in which I just had to turn it off. I watched the buttfumble game from start to finish while family members pleaded with me to give up and enjoy Thanksgiving. This week, I finally couldn’t take it anymore, and switched it off. Rewatching it, all I wanted to do was turn it off. If no one was an option, no one would be the leader on the boards for helmet stickers this year.
Bronze Star: Jamal Adams (5 tackles)
Adams is typically at least good even in a bad game. He made a few decent tackles, but his impact was pretty limited. That’s a top 3 performance in this game.
Silver Star: Leonard Williams (3 tackles, 1 PD)
Williams has been a massive disappointment in a contract year, but he has had a couple games in which he at least had some impact. He didn’t record a sack yet again, but he did force a turnover and grounding penalty with his pressure. He also had a few tackles, including a couple of very solid run stuffs.
Gold Star: Le’Veon Bell (15 rushes for 70 yards, 1 reception for 6 yards)
With his quarterback seeing ghosts, Bell did the most he could on the ground. There wasn’t much he could do, but he did manage 4.7 yards per carry behind one of the worst lines in football against the NFL’s top defense. He had nearly double the yardage of any Jet besides Darnold, who only managed 10 more yards through the air than Bell gained in this game. Bell hasn’t had a chance all season, but he does the best you could expect of him week in and week out.
So there you have it, six weeks in and the table stands:
Le’Veon Bell 10 points (2 gold, 2 silver)
Jamal Adams 9 points (2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze)
Sam Darnold 3 points (1 gold)
C.J. Mosley 3 points (1 gold)
Brian Poole 2 points (1 silver)
Leonard Williams 2 points (1 silver)
Darryl Roberts 2 points (1 silver)
Tarell Basham 1 point (1 bronze)
Jamison Crowder 1 point (1 bronze)
Arthur Maulet 1 point (1 bronze)
Trenton Cannon 1 point (1 bronze)
Robby Anderson 1 point (1 bronze)
