Thursday Night Football, Week 8. Tonight the Washington Redskins travel northwest to face the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
This NFC matchup looks like a mismatch on paper. The 1 - 6 Redskins have been one of the worst teams in the NFL this year, and the 5 - 2 Vikings are red hot, scoring an average of 36 points per game in their current three game winning streak.
The Vikings have won five of their last seven games against the Redskins. Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, after a rough start to the 2019 season, has thrown for 300+ yards with multiple passing touchdowns in three straight games, tying the Vikings’ single season record.
Last week Redskins quarterback Case Keenum threw just 12 passes in a 9 - 0 loss to the 49ers. The 12 passes were the fewest by the Redskins since throwing just 11 passes in a win against the New England Patriots in 1990.
The Redskins are allowing 134 rushing yards per game, second most in the NFC behind only the Lions’ 149. The Vikings are running the ball on 53 percent of their plays, second in the NFL behind only the 49ers’ 57%. On paper this looks like a run heavy slugfest in favor of the Vikings.
It’s the Vikings and the Redskins on Thursday Night Football. Enjoy the game everybody.
