On a beautiful cool and crisp late October evening in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in the Jets’ sixth game of the 2019 season, the New York Jets were humiliated by the New England Patriots, 33 - 0.
This was a complete annihilation of the Jets by a better coached, better executing, more talented team. The Jets were never in this game, getting down by a touchdown on the opening drive and never mounting any kind of a challenge to the Patriots’ dominance. Sam Darnold had a day to forget, harassed by the Patriots pass rush, forced into multiple turnovers, and betrayed by Jets’ receivers’ drops.
The Jets trailed after the first half, 24 - 0, having been destroyed in every phase of the game. The second half was largely a formality, as the Jets looked like a beaten team and never brought the fight to the Patriots all night. Darnold was bad, the coaching was bad, the receivers were bad, the offensive line was dreadful, and the defense couldn’t stop a banged up Patriots offense. Every aspect of the game was dominated by the Patriots.
With the loss the Jets record drops to 1 - 5, with a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars looming next week.
