Without further ado, I bring to you, Gang Green Nation’s Highlight Reel for the past week:
GenoTime7 mocks the 2020 Offseason.
On the Sam Darnold Situation:
Detroit Lions: “we ruined Stafford’s career”
Jets: “hold my beer”
On the criticism of Jamal Adams:
Defending Jamal is a pointless exercise:
The Jamal hate isn’t really about Jamal’s play. It’s about Jamal liking to talk and not being Mahomes who we’ve now rewritten history to have been a flawless can’t miss prospect
On comparing Robby Anderson’s value to Jamal Adam’s value.
Not sure how one can say Robby has more value than Jamal.
When Jamal has been in the topic of being a top 15 Safety (maybe even 10), made the top 100 list (#37) done by his fellow peers, and was a Second-team All-Pro. While the other isn’t even mentioned being in the top 20 at his position, never made the top 100 list, and yea nothing else.
On taking advantage of Minnesota’s current offensive scheme:
Minnesota has paid for Cousins, Diggs and Thielen to only want to run the ball 70% of the time. They want to play a run-heavy control the clock offense and shut it down on defense. Cousins isn’t going anywhere with that contract, Thielen is a hometown hero, the odd man out could be Diggs. If I’m Joe Douglas, I am picking up the phone and offering Leonard Williams and Robby Anderson for Stefon Diggs. I don’t think we are re-signing LW with his current play at the price tag he’s going to demand, and Anderson has not shown he can develop into the WR1 we were all hoping he’d be. Diggs is a star WR, still only 25 years old, and would be a tremendous weapon for Darnold now and going forward. It would make for a nice young core of weapons on offense with Darnold, Bell, Diggs, Herndon and Crowder and we can focus on building up the OL this offseason.
On the Jets failing to land Kirk Cousins:
Macc whiffing on Kirk Cousins is one of the five greatest moves in Jets free agent history.
On reasons for optimism:
The Jet offense needs to start showing signs of life and Gase is responsible for that. But to help put things in perspective: For those who didn’t see the game, the mighty Patriots offense did next to nothing against the Bills D. The only offensive TD they scored was on a short field after a Bills turnover. The other TD was on a punt block recovered to the house. Brady was 18/38 for 150 yards and 0 TDs. That’s a sub-50% completion percentage and good for 3.94 YPA. Some were also trashing Sam after his week 1 performance, but he actually produced more vs Buffalo than Brady while likely playing with mono and handicapped by Gase’s “Todd Bowles level” coaching / playcalling. The offense’s other 2 games were “led” by Luke Falk vs best defense in the NFL and a Browns D that, even missing its top 2 corners, held Goff and Gurley in check and then got the win as underdogs vs L-Jax in Baltimore.
I’m thinking the Jets offense will rebound after the bye. They’ve played three teams with pretty solid defenses. Brady and the Pats O looked pretty bad against Buffalo yesterday. Obviously Sam’s return should help turn it around, and he’ll have another weapon when Herndon returns. The offensive line is still a major concern…
On the Bears drafting Trubisky over Mahomes and Watson:
It has to be agony for Bears fans knowing that you’re a Super Bowl caliber team with Mahomes and Watson, and you passed on both to take Trubisky.
When I remember that mono took out Sam by week 1 of the season
