TNF: Broncos vs Chiefs Game Thread

NFL: Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Thursday Night Football, Week 7. Tonight the Kansas City Chiefs travel west to face the Denver Broncos in Denver, Colorado.

Had this game taken place in Week 5 it would have had a completely different vibe. Two weeks ago the Broncos were 0-4 and their once vaunted defense was having trouble stopping anybody. Meanwhile, two weeks ago the Chiefs were 4-0 and their offense, led by Patrick Mahomes, looked unstoppable.

That was then, this is now. Now the Broncos come into this game having won two straight, their defense once again fierce, having given up a total of just 13 points in the last two games. The Chiefs, on the other hand, come into this game losers of two straight, suddenly looking vulnerable. The once deadly Chiefs offense has only scored 37 points combined the last two weeks, after averaging 34 points per game the first four weeks of the season, and Patrick Mahomes has been banged up and in a mini-slump, appearing mortal for the first time this year.

This rivalry goes all the way back to the days of the AFL, and is one of the most intense rivalries in the league. Though the Chiefs are rightly favored in this game, Denver is a notoriously difficult environment for road teams to succeed in. One of these two teams will break their recent mini-streaks tonight. The outcome will have a major impact on the AFC West divisional race.

It’s the Broncos and the Chiefs on Thursday Night Football. Enjoy the game everybody.
