The Jets have a new head coach, and it is former Dolphins head coach Adam Gase.
Jets expected to hire HC Adam Gase, per me and @JeffDarlington.

The #Jets are hiring former #Dolphins coach Adam Gase as their new coach. He beat them for years, now he joins them.

Gase essentially ran himself out of Miami this year. His three year record with the Dolphins was 23-25.
Throughout this search, I have thought Gase was one of the least impressive candidates the Jets were targeting. But it’s tough to be surprised that this was the hire the team ended up with. The Jets made it clear from the outset that they weren’t interested in a coach with the credibility to demand control over Mike Maccagnan. And today news broke that their talks with Matt Rhule fell apart because the front office wanted to dictate the coaching staff.
When you attach conditions like this to the job, it means you don’t get people who are established or potential rising stars. You get a guy who is so desperate to be a head coach that he’ll accept any conditions.
Like any coach, Gase has some positive points. And it is possible he’s learned from what went wrong in Miami. I am sure some will genuinely believe those positives will shine through, while others will rationalize the hire, trying to talk themselves into it.
My first thought, however, is that the Jets have probably squandered a big opportunity and settled for a guy with major question marks.
