Jets Helmet Stickers: Week 17

The Jets gave me a tricky one for the final sticker distribution of the season. Not only was this game insufferable to rewatch, but I really can’t identify any good performances. Adams compiled 11 tackles, but the secondary was shredded for the most part. Avery Williamson had a couple of nice tackles, but the defense was also shredded on the ground. The offense was mostly a train wreck, with Elijah McGuire and De’Angelo Henderson reminding me just how underappreciated Powell and Crowell have been this season. Well, let’s reward the best of the worst.

Bronze Star: DL Leonard Williams (6 tackles, 1 sack)

While the Jets were mostly gashed in the game, Williams did have a couple of TFLs as well as a sack. He was also tied for 4th with 6 tackles, in a game in which the defense was mostly full of holes and only two other players managed even one stop behind the line. As a whole, the offense rolled through the Jets managing over 7.5 yards per pass and nearly 4.5 yards per rush. At least Leo stopped the pats behind the line a few times.

Silver Star: KR Andre Roberts (3 receptions for 28 yards, 2 kick returns for 52 yards)

Roberts didn’t do all that much in this game, but the risk of his returns led to the Patriots altering their special teams strategies specifically for him. He also recorded the second most receptions and yardage in the game. Speaking of which...

Gold Star: WR Deontay Burnett (5 receptions for 73 yards)

Burnett was probably the only player who actually played well. This is somehow the second game in which he put together an okay performance and earned a gold star due to the lack of effort around him. One week after the bronze star went to a player with over 140 yards, the gold star is going to a player with fewer than half the yardage. That says more about how miserable this game was than the performance that Burnett put forth, but he did likely earn himself a spot in training camp. Hopefully he can build on it next year.

So there you have it, our final tally for the season is:

Jamal Adams 18 points (4 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze)

Jason Myers 11 points (2 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze)
